Bottled Water

There is just something more attractive about opening a bottle of fresh spring water than filling a glass out of the tap. There certainly is an allure about bottled water. I thing we associate bottled water with rich successful people. We see all of these rich celebrities on television drinking it. The popularily has continued to grow. I see more brands at the store than I can keep track of. I have to say that I have fallen prey to the allure myself. On a hot day or if I am exercising outdoors, nothing seems more refreshing.

Is bottled really worth it?
The truth is, the only really great thing about bottled water is the successful marketing of the product. Remember, tap water is bottled and sold for a nice profit

Is bottled water better for you than tap water?
Bottled water has no advantage over tap water? In most instances, it is just tap water that has been filtered. The filter removes residues and  helps to improve the taste. But, anything that encourages drinking more must not be a bad thing. It just gets expensive.

Some bottled waters now have flavors added and others, vitamins. If you don't like the taste of plain water, then this idea might have some merit. Just be sure that there is no sugar being added. Again, this is another expensive alternative.

But I don't like the taste of tap water. What do I do?
If you just don't think plain water taste good, then I suggest you try one of the commercially available home filtration systems. It can be as simple as a filtered pitcher, or tap. Both are relatively inexpensive and will give you a more pleasant taste.

More expensive systems are available that will also soften the water. This helps especially where the water is hard.

A cost free alternative is to chill the water before drinking it. Fill one of the empty bottles and put it into the freezer until it is cold. This will change the taste of the water, generally for the better.

Drinking bottled water as your primary source of water is expensive. Not only will it lighten your wallet, but is increasingly becoming an environmental problem. Imagine, we spend millions annually on bottled water while people around the world are starving. Does not make sense!
